Surin is located on Manam Moon river basin in lower Northeast of Thailand. It is 457 kilometers by road from the capital Bangkok. Total land mass is 8,124 square kilometers. The north borders MaHa Sarakham and Roi Et provinces. The east borders Si Sa Ket province. The west borders Buri Ram province. The south borders the Democracy of Cambodia.   
 
Attractions:
 
This small town has its own slow rhythm of a traditional agricultural and self sufficient life styles and easy living. It also has modern conveniences that make this a cozy and self-contained border town.

Surin municipal has several open subdivision communities. There are many apartment complexes for rent and plenty of houses for sale in the city proper.

His majesty the King’s late mother’s residence is in Huai Saneng water reservoir. Civil servants, doctors, nurses, teachers, business owners, Caucasian expats and their Thai families, silk weavers, rice farmers, elephant trainers, border police officers, Olympic gold medalist, novelists, globally known action movie actor, Christian missionaries and transvestites make Surin their home.

Where You Would Spend Free Time:
 
Surin people spend some leisure times at Huai Saneang water reservoir for picnicking, eating and partying. There are some nice restaurants with layback styles for family outings. There are 10 official sites for Khmer castle ruins to explore through out the province. Since Surin is one of the oldest historical provinces in Thailand, there is no shortage of sites to study. Also, Surin is famous for elephants and the people who raise and live with elephants; the village is Ban Ta Klang in Kra Po district. Another well known product of this area is silk. The native tends silk warms and weaves outstanding silk clothe with the local’s own unique designs. The silk sources are Ban Chan Rom, Ban Ta Sawang, Ban Sawai, Ban Khawao Sinarin, and Ban Samkho.
